Astwood '20' Course change: Stoke Hammond 22nd July 2026

Please note that owing to surface dressing on Chicheley Road, we're unable to run this event on the Astwood course: we will run a 10 mile event on the backup course, Stoke Hammond

Date: Wednesday 22/07/26 19:00

Course: F5v/20 Astwood | Course Description and Risk Assessment | GPS course map

F5d/10 Stoke Hammond | Course Description and Risk Assessment | GPS course map

Meeting Point: Astwood High Street (https://w3w.co/digested.answer.hinted) Layby near Stoke Hammond (https://w3w.co/maker.counts.defeat)

Backup Course: Stoke Hammond F5d/10

Notes: This is a classic sporting course. Note that we will use the start in Astwood rather than near the Bike Bus - this event covers two laps of the usual Astwood course, for a 20 mile event.

Entries cost £5 for NBRC members, £7 for non-members. You can join the North Bucks Road Club for £10. First time riding one of our time trials?

Please note a protective helmet and front and rear lights are mandatory. Time trials are ridden on open roads, and riders must ride accordingly. Review this statement regarding safety and insurance.

Results

We were riding on the Stoke Hammond course for the second consecutive week owing to roadworks on the Astwood course that was originally planned (two laps). Once again we had a warm sunny evening, but this time with the lightest of breezes. Eight riders were on the start list.

Pre-race favourite Dan Chambers won the event with a comfortable margin over Jamie Wooldridge, with Rob Saunders taking third place. On veteran standard, Robe took the honours, followed by Richard Moule and Jamie Wooldridge.

I think everyone who rode this course last week improved on their times this week. Many of us celebrated by a visit to The Dolphin for some fluid replacement (mostly alcohol-free, I hasten to add) before dispersing.

Many thanks to Dick Selley for the timekeeping and signage, and to Rob Saunders and Ian Stokes for managing the event.
