Astwood '10' 19/8/15

We return to the Astwood circuit for the penultimate evening event for 2015 (after next week's Stony event, the remaining events are on weekend mornings - check the calendar), with its new start point near the BikeBus cafe (F5v/10 Revised). Here's a {modal https://connect.garmin.com/modern/activity/807355030}Garmin trace of the course{/modal}. When getting ready to start, please try to avoid milling around adjacent to driveways. We'll meet for signing on at the BikeBus cafe.

If roadworks between Chicheley and North Crawley are still in place, we may need to relocate this event to another course. Watch this space!

The event starts at 7pm, and entry is on the line at £2.50 (NBRC members), £3.00 (non-members). Maximum number of riders 40.

All are welcome at our club time trials: make sure you turn up in time to sign on. You'll need a mechanically sound bike and a bike helmet. We recommend the use of a rear light, especially in evening events. You need to be 12 or over to ride time trials. If you are under 18 you will need permission from a parent or guardian to take part (download a permission form in pdf format and in Word format). Each of our courses has a route description and a risk assessment. Make sure you have familiarised yourself with the course!

The full calendar of events is here. Results of club events held earlier this season are here.

Update - We have reviewed the circuit and as of this morning the course is clear of roadworks.

Results

Considering this was mid-August, it was annoyingly cool and breezy for this event. Still, the threatened heavy rain held off for most of the riders! The win was taken by Jim Moffatt, who I don't think has ridden our events before, with a large margin over the rest of the field, which was led home by Andy Wickham who continues to show how his form has improved this season. We had quite a turnout of riders new to our club time trials - I don't know whether they were displaced from Sunday's cancelled Come & Try It Event, but they were (and are) most welcome!
