Club Run 5/1/25 - poor weather forces retreat to Zwift!

I'd put out a suggested route for the first club run of 2025 via Spond - out to the Cowshed Cafe near Northill. With pretty poor weather looking likely, only one other member signed up for it, and as the weather was pretty horrid I proposed a virtual club run on Zwift.

This was a new thing for the club (I'm not sure how many of us are Zwift subscribers), but on the day we had four riders (three current members and one former member). I had proposed a ride of about 1h30m on the Three Little Sisters route on Watopia, with rubber banding in place no-one would be left behind. Indeed, Steph seemed to be doing a set of short sharp intervals - but we all stayed together.

Unfortunately it was a bit of a mute ride, since I had messages turned off on my Zwift running on Apple TV and hadn't managed to figure out how to use Discord (the gamers' choice for voice chat). We completed the route in good style, taking a 1h24m to complete the route.

Everyone seemed to be quite happy - one even saying it had moved his cycling mojo in the right direction. I followed this up with a 30m coffee ride that was an opportinity to figure out how to set up Discord - successfully!

If you're interested in joining us for group rides, you can find our Zwift club by searching for it in the Zwift Companion phone app. I've made detailed notes, which I'll post elsewhere.
