Notes: This is a classic sporting course. Note that we will use the start in Astwood rather than near the Bike Bus.

Please note a protective helmet and front and rear lights are mandatory. Time trials are ridden on open roads, and riders must ride accordingly. Review this statement regarding safety and insurance.

Results

Once again, we faced some uncertainty for an event on the Astwood course owing to roadworks. To be precise, two sets of traffic lights and a road closure. We hastily arranged inspections of the course (and of the backup course) to ensure we'd be able to offer a time trial this evening. As it turned out, all the roadworks affecting both courses were removed in time for us to carry on as planned.

After another warm and sunny day, I think all the 14 riders who entered were expecting rather balmy conditions. Unfortunately by the time the first riders started it was clear that the blustery wind was accompanied by falling temperatures. Still, it wasnt as tough as last week's event.

Jamie Wooldridge took the honours this evening with a good 23:29, follwed home by Stu Wright and Rob Saunders. Rob also took first place on veteran standard.

We'd planned to visit the newly re-opened Swan in Astwood after the event, with the intention of sitting out in the sunshine. But it was pretty cold so a bunch of us sat indoors for a drink - and for one of us, a pizza. Must have worked hard this evening!
